Abstract

Adherence is indicator in HIV and AIDS medication management. Poor adherence during the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with high morbidity in people living with HIV and AIDS. In improving adherence, it is necessary to make supportive-educative efforts in nursing care. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of supportive-educative COVID-19 using messages gateway on medication adherence in people living with HIV and AIDS. The design in this study used a non-equivalent with a control group approach. The population in this study was PLWHA in Kuta II Health Center. The number of samples in this study was 80, allocating to the treatment group 41 people and 39 people to the control group. A simple random sampling technique was applied. The informational-motivation interventions based on  messages gateway application has given for 12 weeks. The measuring instrument used is the observation sheet for medication adherence. Data analysis using McNemar test. The results of the study found, that there were differences in medication adherence in the treatment group compared to the control group after being given the intervention (p = 0.000). Supportive and educative nursing had an effect on medication adherence in the treatment group (p=0.000). The conclusion of this study was a significant effect of supportive-educative COVID-19 used messages-gateway intervention on the medication adherence in people with HIV and AIDS.
